MELTERDAY! plus, let’s make some kombucha!
kombucha and weed kindof go hand in hand. no, i have not yet brewed a batch with weed as a couple people inquired yesterday….but i have used a full plant distillation as flavoring! anyways today sandwiched between the meltshot i do a fairly quick runthrough of how to make a gallon of kombucha. all that is needed is sugar, tea, and some starter (which is literally just kombucha, sometimes it has fermented past the optimal time for drinking but is still perfect to use to brew a new batch). along with some water of course, and a vessel to brew it all in. most craft stores will have an assortment of 1-3 gallon jars that are perfect for use. also required is a breathable top- usually a cloth of some type tied or rubber banded around the top of the brew vessel to protect from fruit flies and any randomness floating on the dust in the wind, dude. (dust….wind….dude!)
1. brew the tea, steep to taste and let it cool.
2. stir sugar until fully disolved either into the hot tea or 2-3 cups of hot water that we let cool.
3. add room temp water to vessel
4. add the tea and sugar concentrations to vessel
5. if uncertain if it is too hot, check with thermometer! anything under 90º is fine with around 80º being optimal
6. add the starter and pellicle(if using one)
7. wait! give it a taste at day 5, it usually finished up around day 7, sometimes it can go 10-14 days before being done
